Lesmurdie Surf Club
You might have been as confused as we were, to hear that there is a Surf Club in a town that is 600 feet above sea level! But predictions of global warming suggest that melting polar caps and rising sea levels will dramatically alter our coastlines. Lesmurdie as a beachfront town is a powerful imagination. This imagination was created out of a deep passion for the environment with a twist of humour by Jim Smith and his work with Catholic EarthCare. Although the chances of Lesmurdie becoming a beachfront in the foreseeable future is slim it encourages like minded earth guardians to join in solidarity to raise awareness of the need for more sustainable living and to have some fun.
There are now more than 100 members, from Australia, South Africa and the USA. In fact even the mayor of Miami Beach Florida is a member!

The likelihood of Lesmurdie becoming beachfront in the foreseeable future is slim but the founder has taken the long view and has presented the opportunity for like –minded earth guardians to join in solidarity to raise awareness of the need for more sustainable living and to have some fun.
